does not tell anyone. It is horrible that the boy said she was a thief. She almost feels like one, but she is not a thief. She just wanted to try it out.
The rest of the weekend Kara feels like she can hear the boy’s voice.
“You thief!”
She cannot stand it, but she does not tell anyone. She doesn’t tell her parents, and she doesn’t tell Rose and Julie on Monday, either.
During class, they have to write the essay about a cool person, but Kara can only think about the boy with the skateboard.
“Have you thought about who you are going to write about?” Mette asks. She is standing at their table. “Found someone cool?”
“I want to write about the prime minister,” Rose says and opens her notebook.
“I want to write about my mom,” Julie says and starts writing.
Mette looks at Kara.
“I don’t know,” she says.
“I am sure you know someone cool,” Mette says. “You just have to think about it.”
