Valerie Owen is an artist and playwright, and she has bachelor's degrees in English and biology. Now retired after a life of painting, drawing, and writing, Valerie lives in Saugerties, New York, and has a great interest in philosophy and physics. Irmalinda's Doll is dedicated to her grandmother Ela Brown Owen.
