Shouji Gatou

Shoji Gatoh is a distinguished Japanese author and anime screenwriter renowned for the Full Metal Panic! series, which started in 1999 and spawned several adaptations and continuations. This extensive franchise includes light novels, manga, and multiple anime adaptations.

His creative journey took a significant turn when he unexpectedly met Koichi Chigira in Shinjuku while he was late for work. This chance encounter led to a pivotal collaboration between Gatoh and Chigira at Gonzo Digimation, where they developed the Full Metal Panic! anime television series together.

Throughout his career, Gatoh has been vocal about his intentions to create strong, independent characters. He expressed his desire to craft female leads that were not passive or dependent on protection.
