Kevin Kwan

Kevin Kwan is a Singaporean-American author. He is best known for his debut novel Crazy Rich Asians (2013), which has been translated into over 30 languages. The book became a huge international success and was later adapted into a film in 2018.

Together with its sequels, China Rich Girlfriend (2015) and Rich People Problems (2017), they form a trilogy known as the Crazy Rich Asians series.

Kevin Kwan was born and grew up in Singapore. He moved to the United States and attended the University of Houston, where he studied creative writing and graduated in 1995. Kwan worked in the creative industry for many years, including stints in publishing and as a visual arts consultant.

His debut, Crazy Rich Asians, came out in 2013 and received widespread acclaim for its satirical portrayal of wealthy Asian families and the extravagant lifestyles they lead. Kwan's writing often explores themes of wealth, social status, and cultural identity.

Critics lauded the book's humor, vivid descriptions, and social commentary. It became a New York Times bestseller.

Time Magazine named him one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2018.

In 2020, he presented his new book, Sex and Vanity, a satirical romantic comedy. A film adaptation of the novel is in development.
