How to get rid of unwanted and intrusive thoughts?

unavailable
A brief overview

Have you ever had upsetting, distressing, frightening thoughts that enter your mind? – thoughts you don’t want – thoughts that scare you—and thoughts you can’t tell anyone, but they still come to haunt you?

While these are just thoughts, and most of us experience them in our day-to-day life without much disruption, for some, experiencing these intrusive thoughts can severely impair the person and their well-being and cause great distress. At times, they can also lead to the development of different health conditions, including certain physical symptoms, which might show up without medical explanation.

Different people experience different types of these. Some of them get sexual intrusive thoughts or simply sexual thoughts, others get aggressive thoughts or violent thoughts, and then there are those who get blasphemous thoughts. No matter what "type" of these thoughts one might get, such thoughts are so embarrassing at times that the person cannot even share them with their family member, let alone be social workers or wellness professionals. This adds further to their distress.

Conventionally, it was believed that such thoughts are characteristics of people diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder and so forth. But recent peer reviewed studies suggests that such intrusive thought are common in even otherwise healthy individuals.

Popular practices of helping oneself involves attempts at thought suppression - but that helps only little. One needs more strategies than distraction to help themselves in a better way. This audiobook is an attempt to bring you the solution of getting rid of unwanted and intrusive thoughts in a crisp and simple format.

If you are experiencing a lot of distress and no form of self-help seems to be helping you then you should seek proper medical help. There are also a lot of help available for such individuals with a mental health professional who might use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to modify their unhealthy thinking pattern or psychoanalysis to uncover the underlying mental health condition or some other variation of therapy.
