Rather than looking at a general remembrance of the Second World War, it explicitly focuses on memories of Soviet mass crimes, especially in the Gulag. At the same time, it examines the role of a diverse set of actors from different places and in changing combinations, thus providing varied interpretations of Stalin's crimes.
